Kitchen science: squish, bubble and freeze

What can kitchen ingredients teach us about solids, liquids and materials?

Four hands-on lessons with cheap supermarket ingredients. Students test whether oobleck is a solid or a liquid, run a fair test to find the best bubble mixture, use ice and salt to freeze ice cream in a bag, and change a play dough recipe to make the best modelling dough. Each demonstration shows the technique on something students won’t test, so the discoveries are theirs.
